Spotlight

Spotlight is a 2015 American biographical drama film directed by Tom McCarthy. The movie follows the true story of the investigative journalism team of The Boston Globe, known as "Spotlight," as they uncover the widespread sexual abuse of children by numerous Roman Catholic priests in the Boston area and the subsequent cover-up by the Catholic Church.

This sequence aims to vividly portray the horrors endured by the victims and the silencing they suffered due to abuses that were concealed for decades.

FRAMES AT A GLANCE

Creative Concept

Using the framing devices of hands to represent oppression and a veiled figure to represent the blindness of the innocent, the sequence will be a series that portrays the corruption and silencing of the victims. Starting with groups of hands with one hand leading, reaching out for the victim to cover and bind them in order to repress the truth of the corruption. The hands will wrap around the body and cover the mouth, eyes and ears of the subject as the hands pull them down into an endless pool representing the destruction of innocence.

Starting off using digital cameras to capture raw photos of our main character and framing device, as well as micro shoots of water bubbles, providing a versatile base for our visual elements. Then, we utilized the softwares Photoshop, Cinema 4D, and After Effects to manipulate and enhance these images, creating a collage effect and composing them in a visually appealing way, makeing dynamic visuals.
